Ali N. Akansu, Professor, is best known for his seminal contributions to the theory and applications of linear subspace methods including sub-band and wavelet transforms. He made contributions in the areas of optimal filter banks, data hiding and content security, nonlinear phase extensions of discrete Walsh-Hadamard transform and discrete Fourier transform, principal component analysis, sparse approximation, financial signal processing and quantitative finance. He is an IEEE Fellow. His current research interests include theory of signals and transforms, financial engineering & algorithmic trading, explainable machine learning, and high performance DSP.
