Congratulations! You are about to receive a well-deserved degree that reflects your hard work for the past few years.
By completing your degree in electrical or computer engineering, you have learned not only complex mathematics and engineering subjects, but also critical thinking, dedication, and discipline. Through your senior projects, you also showed us that you are smart, creative, effective communicators, and dedicated team workers. I hope these skills you obtained through your education will serve as a strong foundation in starting your career.
Engineering is a great profession! Human lives have been improved by the innovations that engineers have made throughout history. I hope you, as engineers, will continue making the world a better place for all of us and for the future generations.
I know that a lot of you are concerned about your future, but you should be optimistic. COVID-19 will be defeated, the economy will come back, and the job market soon will be wide opened. It’s going to be great.
In most of the commencement addresses, you find “Follow your own path.” Or “Learn from others”. Or my favorite, “you can make a difference.” Indeed, I’m going to give you exactly the same advice because I cannot think of anything better.
Congratulations to Class of 2020!
Best wishes and best of luck to your future!
