2004 Sarnoff Symposium press release (April 26th- 27th) at Princeton

Experts to Talk on Wireless LAN/WAN/MAN, Ultrawideband Systems, Broadband Wired Networks, Security, Software Defined Radio, Other Advances; Product Exhibition Added This Year

PRINCETON, NJ (March 19, 2004)The IEEE Sarnoff Symposium, to be held April 26 and 27 at the Nassau Inn in Princeton, NJ, will bring together technical experts and business leaders from major North American companies and universities, as well as from Europe, India, Iran, Malaysia, and other countries, to explore new developments that promise to make wired and wireless communications faster, more secure, and more pervasive in the consumer, commercial, and military fields.

The symposium, which the IEEE Princeton Section and Sarnoff Corporation, the Princeton-based technology innovation company, have cosponsored for over 25 years, will feature 36 papers in six sessions plus 20 poster presentations on such emerging topics as signal processing in wireless applications; antenna design; networking, including "ad-hoc" self-configuring networks; security issues such as denial-of-service attacks; multimedia and video; optical communications and lasers; and software-defined radio.

"Communications technology is advancing so fast even specialists have a hard time keeping up," said Dr. Gerhard Franz, this year's Symposium General Chair. "This Symposium on Advances in Wired and Wireless Communications attracts experts who can explain the latest developments and even offer a look at the future of communications.

"This year we've added an Exhibition for Telecom service providers and manufacturers of components, technologies, and systems to show their latest products. It should be the biggest Symposium yet."
