On October 6, 2004 Associate Professor John Carpinelli was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award by New Jersey Institute of Technology in the category, Excellence in Team, Interdepartmental, Multidisciplinary, or Non-Traditional Teaching.  This award was instituted to recognize and reward members of the faculty and instructing staff for outstanding accomplishments in teaching.  Dr. Carpinelli was cited for his vision and work in bringing Distance Learning more into the forefront at NJIT, the publication of a leading resource textbook (Computer Systems Organization and Architecture) and high instructor evaluations by his students.
