Current Research Interests
Dr. Shi focuses on motion analysis from stereo image sequences. In addition, he conducts research in applying various Image Processing and Pattern Recognition techniques to industrial automation and biomedical engineering. Research projects include Automatic Solder Joints Inspection on Surface Mount PCBs using infrared imaging techniques; Automated Position Detection of postnet bar code omnidirectionally located in 2-D digital images, and Automatic Boundary Extraction from HVEM images of microvessels. Dr. Shi covers the Computer Communication Lab course, CoE494, and the Digital Data Communication course, CoE421.
